My new raptor 30
Question:
Good morning, My son and I just purchased a Raptor 30 atf from Jacks Hobbies in Ocala Florida. This is just to inform you that on start up of the supplied 39 engine we were trying to adjust the carburator and could not get it to not run lean. Upon removal of engine we discovered that 2 of the head bolts had never been installed. Also with further investigation we discovered the tube inside the fuel tank with the sink on it had never been attached to the fuel tank nipple. This I hope has not damaged the engine. We are purchaseing these parts today to put the engine together correctly. Also there is no evidence of any loctite being appllied to the remaing 4 head bolts which we will correct. If you have any further suggestions of help it would be greatly appreciated. My daytime cell number is (352)-454-1491 or you may respond via e-mail. We like the Heli but are nowconcearned about the rest of the build and nope ! the engine is ok. Thank you for your time and consideration. Jon Baker
Answer:
Dear Mr. Baker,
Thanks for your email. The coming off of the tube inside the fuel tank might be the major cause for the engine to run lean. Long time soaking the tube in the fuel or refueling with over pressure would cause the result. The fuel corrodes the tube and the tube will be broken or go bad naturally. As a result, you will find it difficult for the engine to suck in fuel because of the problem of airtight or the fuel in the header tank will be exhausted sooner than that in the main fuel tank. Please empty the fuel tank when you leave your heli unused. We take the inner tubes as consumables and will replace them after 50 to 100 flights. It depends on the quality of the tube.
As for the head bolts, we do not apply locktite to them and it does not work in a hot engine, either. We screw the botls to a particular tightness and they do not loose easily unless the cylinder head has ever been disassembled.
